Rental kimono are repeatedly cycled through lending, return, and cleaning processes, making it essential to accurately track when and where each item is used, including which store or customer it is assigned to. Conventional printed labels for laundry use tend to degrade or peel off during repeated cleaning and ironing processes, making them unsuitable for long-term identification and management.

A highly washable woven fabric barcode label was adopted. The label is attached to the inside of the kimono—such as the collar lining or waist lining—by heat bonding or sewing, allowing long-term identification without affecting the garment’s appearance. By using QR codes, labels can be easily scanned with existing tablet devices, existing tablet devices already in use by the customer.
